Planning work has begun for the district’s next high school. Community members were invited to attend a Nov. 14 informational open house to get the latest update.

Money for the design and construction of a fourth district high school in Commerce City was included in the voter-approved 2021 Bond Program. The high school, which would be located near 96th Avenue and Reunion Parkway, is tentatively scheduled to open in fall 2027.

While four years may seem like a long way off, every high school in the district is unique and the design and construction of a high school is a lengthy process with construction usually taking about two years. 27J Schools recently hired an architect to begin pre-design work for this new school.

This open house will be the first opportunity for the general public to take a look at site plan options for this new school, ask questions and provide important feedback to the district and the city of Commerce City for the upcoming design process.

“High schools – more than any other schools we build – forge a bond of pride and admiration within their community that spans countless generations,” said 27J Schools Bond Director Ben Dahlman. “We’re excited to start this design process and have our 27J community be a part of it.”
